108 real AEC projects were scored by the CIFE research team using the VDC Scorecard. The scoring results of these projects were analyzed using statistical approaches in order to establish correlations between practices and outcomes as well as identify current practice patterns. The findings of the research are critical in demonstrating that integrated design and delivery methods do facilitate efficient interdisciplinary coordination and promote project quality. Furthermore, the findings will serve as a preliminary guideline in addition to the other existing ones for project teams to operate BIM and VDCPlease click the following links for example cases with detailed findings and recommendations:

The projects were designed and constructed by various AEC firms across the world in over 10 different countries in North America, Europe, Australia and Asia including:

  • Australia
  • Canada
  • China (including Hong Kong)
  • Finland
  • France
  • Germany
  • India
  • Republic of Korea
  • Singapore
  • Sweden
  • Turkey
  • United Kingdom
  • United States of America
Delivery methods used by these projects range from the more conventional design-bid-build to the more integrated methods such as integrated project delivery (IPD) and integrated form of agreement (IFoA). The 108 projects were also evaluated during different phases, including:

  • Pre Design

  • Operations and Maintenance

The pilot projects cover a wide range of facility types, including (arranged by decreasing percentage of projects scored):

  • Infrastructure
  • Courthouse
  • Laboratory
  • Educational
  • Healthcare
